Commissioner Highlight: Travis Tharp

It's time for a commissioner highlight! Today, we're recognizing Travis Tharp, a commissioner with Volunteer Louisiana

"The most valuable resource in my service journey has been the people. During the 2016 Louisiana Flood, I was surrounded by experienced emergency managers, nonprofit leaders, faith-based organizations, VOAD partners, and volunteers who showed me what effective service looks like in action. They taught me that lasting impact is built through relationships, collaboration, and a shared commitment to helping others. As my role grew from water rescues to volunteer coordination and long-term recovery, I relied heavily on the guidance and support of these networks. The relationships I built through Volunteer Louisiana, VOAD, national service programs, and community organizations continue to be some of my most important resources today. The national service field is filled with people who are eager to share knowledge, mentor others, and work together to solve problems. That spirit of collaboration has been one of the greatest resources and one of the reasons I am proud to serve."
