Commissioner Highlight: Andrea Louie
It's time for a commissioner highlight! Today, we're recognizing Andrea Louie, a commissioner and the chair with New York State Commission on National and Community Service.

- "I have served as a Commissioner in New York State for almost ten years. But as far back as my college years, I was always volunteering for local and community initiatives. Especially as a Chinese American woman who grew up in rural Ohio, I was eager to "find my tribe" when I moved to New York City in my 20s; serving the AAPI as well as arts and culture community has always been deeply important to me. In my current service journey, I particular want to make sure that a voice is in the room representing a perspective from the diverse AAPI network.
- I am proud to serve in the national service field because I am a child of immigrants, and I have the luxury of being able to give back to my community and to my country.
- Others should consider entering in this field because it's a gateway to a broad and deep network of our local communities' most passionate and dedicated individuals. These are people on the front lines of where needs are often the greatest--and where rewards also can be most meaningful."
- Thank you for your service, Andrea!
