Leadership Convening

Each year, ASC brings together Executive Directors and Commissioners from state service commissions across the country to discuss high-level trends and developments, revisit strategic goals, report on association progress, and foster cross-state collaboration and best practice sharing. The Leadership Convening is typically held in February in the Washington, D.C. area.

America’s Service Commissions is pleased to host our annual Leadership Convening the week of February 10-13, 2020 for commission executive directors and commission chairs. Please register at the bottom of this page.

Location: Hyatt Regency Crystal City, 2799 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Arlington, VA 22202

The schedule of events is as follows:

  • Monday, February 10
    • ASC Board of Directors meeting (10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)
    • ASC Hill Day Briefing and Reception (4:00 p.m.)
  • Tuesday, February 11
    • ASC Hill Day (all day; all are encouraged to attend)
  • Wednesday, February 12
    • ASC Leadership Convening Day 1  (all day; Executive Directors and Commissioners)
  • Thursday, February 13
    • ASC Leadership Convening Day 2 (all day; Executive Directors and Commissioners)
  • Friday, February 14
    • Travel Day (suggested)

If you are not attending the ASC Board meeting, we encourage attendees to arrive on Monday, February 10 in time for the Hill Day Briefing/Reception around 4:00 p.m. (exact time TBD).

The Leadership Convening will conclude by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 13. *Please do not book travel for any earlier than 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.*

Lodging: 

ASC has secured a group rate of $165 per night (plus taxes) at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City. Rooms are available at this rate until capacity is reached and/or the group block deadline of January 28.

Hotel reservations may be made online or by phone through DF Meetings and Events, by calling (407) 583-6049 or (866) 201-1420 (Hours of Operation 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. ET Monday-Friday). Please do not contact the hotel directly to make your hotel reservation.

NOTE: Hotel reservations must be cancelled 72-hours prior to check-in to avoid a cancellation penalty of 1-night room and tax.

Transportation: 

The Hyatt Regency Crystal City operates a complimentary shuttle between Reagan National Airport and the hotel (approximately every 20 minutes). The shuttle runs from 4:40am – 12:00am every day. There are two shuttle pickup locations at the airport:

  • Shuttle picks up at Terminal A (Old Terminal)
    Upon exiting Terminal A walk towards the covered stations on the right and stop at the station designated “Hotel Shuttles.”
  • Shuttle picks up at Terminal B (New Terminal)
    Exit out of door #3 on the upper level (3rd floor) and make a left to proceed towards “B Delta Shuttle” where the “Hotel Shuttles” sign is located.
